Top Spots to Live West of Boston 2024 - Hudson, MA

Choosing a “top” place to live is a personal exercise, one with as many possible outcomes as there are home buyers. For this year’s lists we focused on those communities in Greater Boston where prices have increased the most, as compared with prices five years ago. Why focus on sales price? Because we believe it suggests these communities are places where many would-be buyers are competing to live, driving up prices.
But we also know communities are defined by more than price, so we’ve introduced a new component this year, “May We Suggest,” a subjective spotlight of towns and neighborhoods that aren’t at the very top of the price-increase list, but have lots of enduring appeal.
A former mill town, Hudson has seen a retail and restaurant renaissance rekindle its compact downtown; cyclists riding the scenic Assabet River Rail Trail can reward themselves with small-batch ice cream or locally brewed craft beer, among other treats, in the strollable town center. The town has also invested in both a new high school and middle school in the last 20 years.

Hudson earns title of ‘Best Main Street in America’ beating out more than 200 other locations in nationwide competition

hudson won the sixth annual america’s main street contest, which began in september and announced a winner monday. the town of about 20,000 people directly north of marlborough emerged as the winner among more than 200 entrants nationwide.
the nod as america’s best main street comes with a prize of $25,000, which the town said use to expand the cultural footprint of downtown hudson and fund the growth of the community.
hudson has evolved over the last decade into a hub of restaurants, breweries and retail options.
many of those businesses rallied together to start a “we heart hudson” campaign to bolster voter turnout in the nationwide competition.

Hudson, Massachusetts was named one of the top places to live by Boston Magazine in 2019. We’re so proud to be apart of such a vibrant community. Since we opened in 2012, the fire continues to grow in Downtown Hudson!
