Rail Trail Flatbread Co. opens 2nd restaurant, investing in Milford

When The Rail Trail Flatbread Co. hosts its grand opening Tuesday, Dec. 12, owners say it won’t just be a capstone to years’ worth of renovations that turned a former bank into a restaurant in the heart of downtown Milford, it will also recognize their team’s commitment and a promise of potential for those involved.

The grand opening date — 12/12/23 — carries special significance for Rail Trail and its ownership because 11 years ago the restaurant opened its first location about 20 miles away up Interstate 495 in downtown Hudson on 12/12/12.

That opening and its subsequent success helped to set in motion a revitalization in downtown Hudson that led to a 2021 award for the MetroWest community featuring “America’s best Main Street.

Michael Kasseris, CEO and one of 10 equity partners of Rail Trail, said “every inch” of the new Milford location on Main Street was renovated “from basement to roof” over the course of two-and-a-half years of construction.

The restaurant — replete with seating for up to 200 guests, an outdoor patio and an upstairs events space — is open for business starting at 11:30 a.m. daily ahead of its official grand opening for lunch and dinner hours.
